Kaltern, the village of diversity

Actively into Nature

Hiking, mountaineering, cycling – directly from Villa Antonius, you can take a leisurely hike to Altenburg on the Peace Trail (Hiking Report) or along the Nature Experience Trail. There, you can visit the ruins of St. Peter's Church, explore the impressive Rastenbach Gorge, or simply enjoy the view of Lake Kaltern. Alternatively, take the funicular railway, just a 7-minute walk away, up to the Mendel Pass and embark on leisurely or longer hikes in the Mendel Mountains. All of this is also possible by bicycle, whether e-bike or mountain bike. And if you prefer road cycling, then go for it – explore South Tyrol's mountain passes or cycle all the way down to Lake Garda.

Off to the lake

Swimming, surfing, paddle boating, kitesurfing, or simply enjoying a day at the foot of Leuchtenburg Castle on the warm waters of Lake Caldaro. Looking for a change of scenery? No problem, the two Monticolo Lakes and Lake Fennberg, also swimming lakes, are not far away.

And then there's the Merano Thermal Baths. Combine a trip to the spa town with relaxation in the soothing, bubbling waters of the thermal baths.

Hearty and Drinkable

Tyrolean-Mediterranean cuisine and wine are a perfect match. Traditional wine taverns, cafés, restaurants, and numerous wine shops await you. In Kaltern and the surrounding area, you'll find traditional Tyrolean fare as well as a touch of "Bella Italia." The symbiosis of these two cuisines, paired with exquisite red and white wines that ripen particularly well along the South Tyrolean Wine Road, makes a holiday with us a true culinary experience. Come and see for yourself!

Experience the Land & its People

Get to know the customs, culture, and people – ideally by strolling through the center of Kaltern, stopping at a traditional inn, or visiting the numerous events and museums, castles, and stately homes in the surrounding area. Southern South Tyrol offers countless stories waiting to be told.
